Hot, Hot, Hot!

I really do not like summer. I know that makes me un-American. Everybody likes summer: Cook-outs, pool, beach vacation, and the likes. That is only a small portion of the summer months. Most of us have to work most of the time. That means staying in town, far away from open water or high mountain peaks - no fresh breeze to bask in while we eat a wonderful picnic lunch. Only sweltering days with high ozone counts. Most of my summer days are spent trying to get to the office without showing up drenched in sweat. And forget my hair! - it has its own mind once the humidity gets over 60%. I only regret cutting my hair short in the summer because I can't put it up in a ponytail and hide the horrible effects of humidity. I walk around with this crazy half curly half out of control mess on top of my head - forget style, combing, any semblance of control; my hair always looks like I just crawled out of bed, no matter what I do to it, in this kind of weather. In my perfect world the temperature would never get over 75. I prefer 68. I hate summer in the South!!!!!!!!!!

Crazy Week

Wow, so I thought I had a nice, easy week ahead of me last Sunday but that's not the way it turned out. I've hardly been at home, eventhough I took Thursday afternoon and Friday off. I had so many errands and appointments that it seems I've been at my house less the past two days than when I'm only going to work and home. Of course, I've only gone to just work and then home one day this week - Monday because I had to finish Harry Potter that night. Since then it was the wine bar next to the office with coworkers, then the next night out for quiz night at the neighborhood British pub, then next night movie with friends after an afternoon's vacation. Today, my car had to be serviced and then more errands and shopping since there are a lot of sales at the moment and I really need some more work clothes. Finally, Friday night (tonight) I arrived home before bedtime for what seems the first time since the weekend. More poor puppy hardly knows me.

Unmade Bed Unsightly?

As usual, I didn't make up my bed this morning but I thought these colors looked so pretty that I had to take a pic. I never would have noticed these together if I'd made my bed.

Twitter is Fun

I may be getting hooked on Twitter. I think there are many uses for Twitter waiting to be thought up. This blog post is giving me some ideas - maybe traffic updates? Breaking news?

Get Out of Jail Free Card for Scooter

Scooter Libby is not going to prison. In the knick of time, W commuted his sentence. What do you think? I did hear on the news this evening that the President has intervened in fewer sentences than any president in 100 years. Maybe he's saving up all those pardons and shortened sentences for the end of his term?

Keeping with my goal

So, it's only been a little over a month since my last post - I'm not that much off schedule. My birthday and the two days after were spent in Atlanta watching the Red Sox! The first night there we met J.D. Drew's parents. Great folks. But the Sox lost! Where is the love on my b'day? We soundly won the next two nights, much to my joy.

To fill our days while in Atlanta we went to the High Museum to see the Annie Liebovitz exhibit. Fantastic! Beautiful! Highly recommend. And shopped. But not at malls. We went to Little Five Points to relive our college days. I say "we" meaning my brother, Eric, and me, dragging two of my co-workers along. The co-workers (who are the only other Sox fans we know, hence the foursome trip to ATL for the series) didn't really appreciate Little 5. It might have had something to do with the stores not opening until noon or 12:30 - we got there shortly after 11:00am and had to walk from one closed shop to the next. Also, they aren't fans of tattoo shops, or vintage clothing shops, or head shops, so there wasn't much for them. We went on to Virginia Highlands. There they seemed to find a little more that they liked. The used bookstore that Eric and I dragged them into wasn't a big hit, though. I must admit I wasn't very impressed with it, either. Poor selection and it smelled like cat pee. But we weren't in Atlanta to shop, only to see the Red Sox, so the poor shopping wasn't a deterent to our good times.
Three downers of the trip:
1. Sox lost first night.
2. I got distracted and didn't get everything out of my hotel room when we left. I've lost my favorite pajamas.
3. It took us over 6 hours to drive home!!!! Three + hours from ATL to the SC line!!
Still, I had a great time.

Wow!

The Billy Graham Library was dedicated May 31. These are only a few of the photos I took that day.
